Twenty-one are the editions of the contest, five those where the publication has been awarded, two since the opening of the contest to projects from all over the world…and 150 years since the birth of the Master Giacomo Puccini!
Emanuele Vietina and Domenico di Giorgio, coordinator-in-chief of Lucca Games and Editorial Director of daVinci Editrice respectively, proudly present at Spielwarenmesse 2008 the new, most awaited main theme of the BEST UNPUBLISHED GAME contest, that will be awarded at Lucca Comics & Games 2008. The most important Italian exhibition dedicated to comics and games will be held once more in the historical centre of town from October the 30th until November the 2nd .

For an international contest, that in the last edition has had almost 50% of the prototypes coming from abroad and that awarded as the most promising game designer Tsan Din Li from Taiwan with his “Age of Eploration”, the main theme could be nothing but a synonym of the Italian genius, one of the most important heritages for the town of Lucca. An indelible symbol of our culture: Giacomo Puccini, whose 150th birthday celebrations are coming up for this year.
So, “Nessun Dorma” will be the main theme with which the participants will confront themselves for the 2008 edition of the contest. The title is so well-known that any translation is superfluous, it is one of the most renowned romance in the history of lyrical music, from the Turandot, brought back to his immortal fame by the great tenor from Modena, Luciano Pavarotti.
Another important novelty for our contest, and we are proud to announce it from the prestigious exhibition of Nuernberg, will be the Special Award Remo Chiosso, a friend and fellow game-designer who recently passed away. Exactly one year after his departure, on February the 8th , Murderparty, Lucca Comics & Games and daVinci Editrice are glad to remember him with the institution, inside the Best Unpublished Game contest, of a special mention for the “most thrilling game” in contest.

Lucca Games is the foremost Italian game convention and it is run within Lucca Comics & Games. It is held in the historical heart of the town, building more than 18.500 sq. meters of exhibit halls. Last edition has over 100.000 attendees and over 400 exhibitors.

daVinci Editrice (dV Games) is one of the most important italian publishers of boardgames and cardgames. The most renowned games of the company are the western card games Bang! and the boardgame Leonardo da Vinci (Maestro Leonardo) and the party game Lupus in Tabula.
