Media Watch: Board games are bringing people together in Marin

From the Marin Independent Journal:

Every Thursday night, Fairfax resident Yoshi Creelman heads to San Rafael for an evening of board games.

Creelman isn’t your average board gamer. He’s taught gaming classes to students at the elementary and middle school levels, and his tastes run more to strategy games like Puerto Rico and Power Grid than childhood classics like Clue or Monopoly

Susan McKinley Ross is a regular at Gamescape, even though the Petaluma resident has held a game night of her own in her home for 10 years…

After years as a player, McKinley Ross invented a game of her own – Qwirkle, a game she describes as “Scrabble for Neanderthals.”

Why didn’t Mindware use that phrase when marketing Qwirkle?  I certainly plan to introduce the game to people that way in the future. To read the entire article, head to the MarinIJ.com website.

Ack! I did not describe Qwirkle as Scrabble for Neanderthals. No,no,no.

In all fairness, I did say SOMEONE ELSE described Qwirkle as Scrabble for Cavemen. It’s a small point, but it’s important to me.

I thought I could just let the misquote die a quiet death, but no, Eric had to find it and remind me it was floating around out there on the internet. =)

Well, Susan, at least your correction is now attached to the quote in question. Publicity does have its drawbacks…
