Media Watch: North Star Aims to Shoot the Moon

From WashingtonPost.com:

Star light star bright. I wish I may. I wish I might. Play this game all night.

That’s what the brains behind North Star Games hope every family member across the nation will say each night before they go to bed.

Founder Dominic Crapuchettes and his business partner Satish Pillalamarri may get their wish. The small business recently signed a deal with national chain Target to carry their game Wits & Wagers for this holiday season.

Much more on North Star Games in the Washington Post article online, with pictures of Dominic is shorts!

Congratulations, Dominic--great article!  The writer did a good job of representing gaming as well.  She only made two slips:  referring to Settlers and Carcassonne as “party games” (oops!) and calling The Gathering an “industry” convention.  But definitely one of the better newspaper articles about gaming I’ve read and it presents North Star in a very favorable light.

Yeah, the part about the party games coming out of Germany made me laugh!1 :-)

But she did a great job at most everything else.  I can see why she thinks the Gathering is an “industry” convention.  That is where we met most of our industry contacts and it has enabled us to get access to important industry advice.

Dunno. The Gathering really seems to have maybe about 100 industry types. As best as I can tell is mostly play time for the industry types.

Although perhaps a little too much work actually gets done there.

Nice promo piece, though. And I’m more and more amazed by Target’s buyers. What is the likelihood that you could design one of their yearly Halloween games? This year it was a lame boxed version of Ghost in teh Graveyard.
