More Abstract Game Tournaments on the IAGO Calendar

The International Abstract Games Organization has lined up additional tournaments for the IAGO World Tour, with a Wildcard event starting Dec. 1; a triathlon of Amazons, Entropy and Razzle-Dazzle starting Jan. 2, 2008; and Pool Checkers in July 2008. For the complete calendar, visit the IAGO World Tour webpage and for future tournament announcements subscribe to the IAGO News feed.

I haven’t played most of these games, but Amazons is a fantastic challenge for two players. On a 10x10 board, each player controls four pieces that move like queens in chess. Each turn you move a piece, then “fire an arrow” from that piece’s location to create a blocked space. The first player who can’t move a piece and fire an arrow loses.
