Mr. Jack Extension - Sold Out Until Q3 2008
Mr. Jack was a hit at Spiel ‘06, which led to an International Gamers Award for best two-player game and (perhaps inevitably) an expansion in 2007.
When the Mr. Jack Extension arrived at Spiel ‘07, however, the publisher Hurrican Games noticed that the character cards had been cut improperly, which made them stand out when shuffled with the cards from the base game. “We printed a new punch board, and we replaced the wrong with the new in each box,” says Yves Menu, from Swissgames Sàrl, parent company of Hurrican. “This problem was solved.” Hurrican was even able to sell the corrected Extension on the final two days of Spiel.
But due to the printing problem, Hurrican didn’t receive its entire order, which meant that every distributor received fewer copies than it ordered; Asmodée Editions in North America, for example, received fewer than two dozen copies from Canadian distributors. “It’s our responsibility only”, says Menu, “The extension is sold out. I think everywhere in the world, but maybe inside some shops it’s still there.”
Hurrican will reprint the Extension in 2008, says Menu, and the game will be available in the U.S. by August or September at the latest.

That just seems a bit strange for this extension of a very popular game to take 8 to 9 months to be available again in the U.S. By the time it becomes available I will have tired of the game and the excitement of buying the extension will have long passed. Kind of too bad. Posted by William Anderson on Dec 19, 2007 at 06:10 PM | #

Wow, less than two dozen copies? I sure hope that I’m one of them… I ordered off of their website when you posted about it earlier (08 DEC) and paypal’d them the money, but I never got any sort of confirmation from them directly. I guess we’ll see. Posted by Mark Wilder on Dec 19, 2007 at 07:34 PM | #
