Variant: New Buildings For Elasund

The German Abenteuer Catan (Adventure Catan) website has posted a free expansion for Elasund with some new buildings for the game.  To get the expansion, head over to the Neue Gebäude im Spiel Elasund page and download the Elasund_Gebaeude.pdf file.  For those who can’t read German, our intrepid translator Patrick Korner has translated the page and the expansion for you.

New Buildings For Elasund Effective immediately, you can build a warehouse, a castle and a barracks - with new bonus effects in the game! This expansion is only intended for experienced players, who have already played Elasund several times.  New players will be overwhelmed with the possibilities that the new tiles afford. Download the PDF file and follow the instructions within the file.  To read the file, you will need Acrobat Reader, which can be downloaded free of charge from www.adobe.com. Important: The tiles MUST be printed in their original size.  All size-related options in Acrobat’s print dialog box (such as ‘shrink to fit’, ‘expand to fit’, etc.) must be turned off.

Instructions for Preparation: Cut out the block of new tile fronts by following the red line and paste the cutout onto a piece of cardstock.  Once pasted, trim the cutout edges down to the tile edges.  Now cut out the tile backs and paste them onto the backside of the cardboard.  Finally, cut the individual tiles apart. Important Note: This expansion is only intended for experienced players, who have already played Elasund several times.  New players will be overwhelmed with the possibilities the new tiles afford. Castle The owner of the Castle may choose to either pay 2 Gold for 1 Influence Card from the draw pile or take 2 Gold for 1 Influence Card of his choice.  He may only perform this action once, at the end of his turn. This action counts as a second, bonus action at the end of the turn. Barracks When either of the two rows that the Barracks is built on is rolled, then its owner has the option of taking either 1 Gold or 1 Influence Card. Warehouse The player that builds the Warehouse receives 1 extra Trade Point.
