Ornella Day Is Coming – Mark Your Calendars
June 2nd, 2009 is Ornella Day. While not an international holiday, Ornella Day is a time to gather with loved ones and play the works of one Emanuele Ornella, designer of Hermagor, Oltre Mare and the forthcoming Martinique, among other titles.

Ornella Day, which takes place in the small Italian city of Comello, is the work of the Carri Disarmati game group and the second “Author Day” to be organized by the group, with Leo Colovini getting the honor in 2008. Multiple tournaments will be held throughout the day, with players facing off in Byzanz and an unpublished Ornella game currently titled Morges. Prepublication copies of Martinique, which Dutch publisher QWG Games plans to release in Q3 2009, will be on hand, thereby serving as the game’s debut before the public.
Admittedly this event won’t attract players from aroudn the world, much less the length and breadth of Italy, but kudos to Carri Disarmati for garnering publicity for games and their designers and developing an event that’s akin to a book release party. Hope to see more such events in my neighborhood and around the world in the future…

Stay tuned, I am going to host a United States Ornella Day. If anyone is interested in attending, let me know. I’m thinking that it will be June 13th. Posted by Bradley Keen on May 19, 2009 at 05:36 AM | #
