Power Grid Wins Gra Roku 2007 (Poland’s Game of the Year)

Friedemann Friese’s Power Grid—or Wysokie Napiecie, as it’s known in Poland—has won the Gra Roku 2007, the Game of the Year award in that country. Neuroshima Hex! won a special prize for being the best game from a Polish designer. The other nominees were That’s Life, Wooly Bully, and Wings of War: Famous Aces.

According to Artur Nataniel Jedlinski, who helpfully sent award results to this non-Polish speaking editor, a jury of experts selected the nominees, then nearly 500 votes were collected from the public to determine the winner. Previous winners include Osadnicy z Catanu (aka Settlers of Catan) in 2005 and Drakon in 2004.
