Pro Ludo + Big Huge Games = Rise of Nations and Rise of Legends in Cardboard
German publisher Pro Ludo/PS Games has announced a partnership with Big Huge Games, which brought Catan to the Xbox Live Arcade. The first result of this partnership will be a boardgame version of Rise of Nations, which is due for a Q4 2007 release. (An Essen release is still possible, but by no means guaranteed.) BHG’s Rise of Legends will also make the transition into cardboard.

There was (and presumably still is) a BGG thread about Railroad Tycoon 2 in which Glenn Drover mentioned “History! The History of Civilization” as a future Tropical Games release. I wonder if this is that game, with a license acquisition and some behind-the-scenes redistributing of rights and responsibilities having taken place in the meantime. I hope not; the more civ-themed games out there, the better. Posted by Eric Clark on Aug 30, 2007 at 03:56 PM | #

Eric, Drover mentioned “History” in one of the comments to my review of Age of Empires III that I posted on the Geek. Here’s what he said, “I’m also working on a ‘Civ’ building game that uses the mechanics from Age of Empires III...really a sequel in many respects. The game is called: ‘History’ and should be published next Spring.” That certainly sounds like a different game than a reworking of SM’s Civ. The time frame is different as well. Like you, I hope we’re dealing with two separate games here; not only is more better, but his description of History sounds quite appealing. Posted by Larry Levy on Aug 30, 2007 at 10:34 PM | #

I was wondering if History! is related to the Civilization IV game he was working on when Eagle Games still existed? Posted by Surya Van Lierde on Aug 31, 2007 at 03:53 AM | #
