Stylish Loot for the Caylus Premium Edition

Ystari’s Cyril Demaegd has sent along an image of the metal coins that will be included in the Caylus Premium Edition. The coins are resting in a drawstring purse, which is included in the game. “These coins are replicas of real denars from the Philip the Fair era—although the head and tails are not from the same coin, for legal reasons),” says Demaegd.

If you click on the image and look closely at the large version, you’ll notice that the board underneath the purse has an interesting texture to it. This was a prototype gameboard printed on cloth, according to Demaegd, but the game includes a regular cardboard gameboard because it proved to be more readable. Ystari still has those cloth boards, though, so Demaegd says, “We’ll make a contest to win those prototypes.” What that contest will be isn’t yet determined…

As noted previously, you can preorder the Caylus Limited Edition through the Ystari website. The total cost is €65, with €15 being charged at the time of the preorder and the remainder due at Spiel. In September, you’ll be able to have a copy shipped directly to you, but be sure to factor the weight of those coins into your shipping costs.
