Timber Tom, New Game from a New Designer
Timber Tom is the debut design of Marco Bing, who has manufactured his own design and will be selling it on his website in early November.
Players are trying to collect some number of money bags and return to base camp before anyone else can, and their movement requires them to hike up and down mountains while they travel. Anyone who measures games by their weight or degree of component chunkiness will get a kick out of Timber Tom‘s gameboard as the hills are designed like a topographic map, with different levels to represent the mountain heights. For the most part, a player’s movement will depend on where his Tom ends its turn, but other players can block the path by planting trees in your figure’s way – fast-growing trees, mind you.

A summary of the rules is available on the website, which also includes many pictures of the components and preordering instructions. The complete rules will be posted on November 1, 2008. This game has been added to Gone Cardboard.

That’s a very cool looking game, with some great bits for someone’s first production. Posted by Matt Fullenwider on Sep 13, 2008 at 01:29 AM | #
