Tschuk - New from Heinrich Glumpler and Edition Erlkönig

Heinrich Glumpler has released a new game on the Edition Erlkönig website called Tschuk. As with Glumpler’s previous games, Tschuk is playable in solitaire form—unlike previous games, the maximum number of players is two. Tschuk is actually more of a puzzle than a game, although it can be played competitively. The game feels akin to Coda in that players are trying to deduce which items are which, and as the game progresses, you have more information with fewer unknowns, leading you to make conclusions with a greater chance of success.

For now, this game exists in two forms: online, in both one- and two-player versions and in a 100-copy edition produced by 3-Hirn-Verlag. Says Glumpler, “We might offer another edition in 2008 or later depending on the success of the game.”

The point system isn’t explained on the site, and the rules currently aren’t available for download. A player’s score is equal to the sum of points scored for each row, with a row equalling the number of coins guessed correctly multiplied by the number of empty spaces in that row since the lower the number of empty spaces, the easier it will be to deduce what’s in those spaces.

Says Glumpler, “ Tschuk is more a game system than a game—we will definitely publish quite some variants at our website.”
