Ubongo Now Even Extremer Thanks to Bézier Games
Is Ubongo a walk in the park for you? Does Ubongo Extrem not give you enough of a challenge? If so, Ted Alspach has just the expansion for you: Ubongo Etrem Craxy Expansion.

As Ted describes it, “This brand new expansion to the already-overly-challenging Ubongo Extrem takes gameplay up one notch higher than it really should ever go. With 70 all-new puzzle cards, each with four solutions, featuring five (5!) pieces on each card, Ubongo-ists will find themselves doing mental gymnastics of Olympic-level caliber.”

He notes that Gage and Dakota Alspach, ages 10 and 8 respectively, aided in the testing of this expansion since they had already mastered the Extrem version. This expansion can be downloaded from the Ubongo Extrem Craxy Expansion page on the Bézier Games website. More pics after the jump for those who need to see craxy before being convinced.

I hope no one reports Ted for child abuse! My wife accused me of just that when I challenged my kids to five star puzzles of Einfach Genial Knobelspass. Now I need to get this expansion and finally order a copy of Ubongo Extrem to step it up a notch. Posted by E.R. Burgess on Mar 3, 2008 at 02:53 AM | #

Hopefully, this means that we’ll see a domestic release of Ubongo Extrem in the not-too-distant future. Posted by David Reed on Mar 3, 2008 at 11:24 AM | #

A couple notes here: 1) The kids not only tested many of the tiles, but they designed 20 of them as well. 2) Zev was thinking about doing this, but the exchange rate made this impractical without charging something way too high ($50+). And the exchange rate is just getting worse and worse. Posted by Ted Alspach on Mar 3, 2008 at 11:34 AM | #

Thanks for the reply, Ted. I think that you are correct about the exchange rates, but I note that game prices are rising all over the place these days.
Days of Wonder has raised their prices across the line.
I’m curious whether doing a pre-book (as was done with Agricola) might at least see if there was sufficient interest for Zev to consider doing it. Posted by David Reed on Mar 3, 2008 at 11:54 AM | #

I’d imagine that many of the people who might be up for a pre-order have already aquired an imported copy, one way or another. Especially after Zev initially announced he was passing on it. BTW, thanks Ted; my friends will either be praising you or cursing you shortly. ;) Posted by Chris Johnson on Mar 3, 2008 at 03:52 PM | #
