Want to Buy Yankee Stadium?

My 2008 Toy Fair report included coverage of Ballpark Classics, a company that makes giant two-player baseball games in which one player “pitches” a metal ball down a tube, possibly putting spin on it in the process, while the other player tries to bat the ball through holes in the back wall in order to get on base and score.

At the time, Ballpark Classics offered only a generic baseball field, but the company has now signed a licensing agreement with Major League Baseball that will allow the release of scale-model replicas of Major League ballparks, such as this version of the now-abandoned Yankee Stadium:

The company is taking preorders through its website, with Fenway Park and the new Yankee Stadium coming in May; Citi Field, Wrigley Field and the previous Yankee Stadium in June; and Dodger Stadium and Busch Stadium in July. Current and past stadiums for all thirty teams will be released. The pricetag for a game is $280, and it weighs 25 pounds, so expect the shipping charge to be weighty as well.
