Zooloretto Expansion - The Petting Zoo

Michael Schacht has made an expansion for Zooloretto, called The Petting Zoo, available for download from the Zooloretto page of his Spiel aus Timbuktu website. (Click on the image of the expansion to bring up the printable file in a separate window.) Here’s how the expansion works, as translated from the German:

Follow the normal Zooloretto rules with the following addition: Each player receives a petting zoo as an additional enclosure and displays it face-up before himself. Each petting zoo has room for two offspring disks. Whenever there’s a new generation, the player can decide whether to place the offspring in the petting zoo, the normal enclosure, or the stable. The first time a player places an offspring in the petting zoo, he receives one coin from the bank; for the second disk, he receives two coins. Important: Each animal can have offspring only once. At the end of the game, the petting zoo scores no points.

Is this the same expansion Abacusspiele is giving away from their website?

No, Matt, it’s a separate expansion that can be used with or without the Abacus giveaway.
