Zooloretto, Pillars of the Earth Keep Winning Awards
The Japan Boardgame Prizes have been announced for 2007, and the winners include a number of familiar faces.
Zooloretto won Best Foreign Game for Beginners, beating out Thebes by only two votes. In a mirror finish, Pillars of the Earth beat Notre Dame by two votes to win Best Advanced Game. Hop Hop Hooray! (published in Germany as Hüpf hüpf, Hurra! And due out in English in 2008 from Ravensburger) won Best Childgame by a slim margin over Burg Appenzell, which had also placed third in the Best Foreign Game for Beginners category. The winner for Best Japanese Game is Bursa, from Learning Design Association, a stock game of some sort that received more than twice as many votes as runner-up Goita.
