Eagle Games Assets Auctioned?

The game news site Gaming Report is reporting about an item that appeared in the Chicago Tribune regarding the sale of assets of Eagle Games.  You can see the item on this Classifieds page (see item 9).

Editor’s Note: The rumors that something has been happening with Eagle have been circulating for a while now.  I’ve been trying to get them to go on the record with a statement, but to no avail (it’s likely things were just too much in flux).  I’ll prod them again, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Well.  I guess Railroad Tycoon didn’t come along soon enough to save them - although I do note that the text indicates that certain assets are not included in the sale (mind you, it seems all Intellectual Property is up for grabs).

This is sad news if the ramifications are true - I wonder what this will mean for the upcoming release pipeline?

But wasn’t he just showing off AoE3 a few weeks ago?  Doesn’t sound like the actions of a man who is selling off everything.  Maybe he’s leaving the publishing business and just focusing on designing?

The odd thing is that they just opened up preorders for AoE3. Odds are, they are reorganizing and trying to clean up cash flow to actually produce the game.

I wonder how much Glenn has to put up to get those licenses from the software publishers?  I doubt it’s cheap.
