Gone Cardboard: Dungeon Lords Coming Sooner than Expected from Z-Man
In late December 2009, Zev Shlasinger of Z-Man Games posted on BoardGameGeek that he was waiting for a second printing of Dungeon Lords before shipping out the copies that he was expecting in January 2010. He wouldn’t have enough copies to fulfill all the outstanding orders, so rather than allocate among distributors, he wanted to get everyone enough copies all at the same time. Another issue factoring in to this decision is that Dungeon Lords‘ original publisher, Czech Games Edition, was making changes to the game, and Shlasinger wasn’t sure how different the new edition would be from the first, whether he’d have to send out upgrade packs, label the boxes, or otherwise handle the games differently.
As it turns out, the second edition of Dungeon Lords isn’t being changed that much. “Minor tweaks to the rules and even minor tweaks to the central board,” says Shlasinger. “They won’t affect play and are hardly discernible from the original.” As a result, Z-Man will start shipping the game to U.S. distributors the week of January 11, 2010 and the games should be in stores before the end of the month.
The bad news, however, is that copies will still be allocated among distributors – and therefore among retailers – so it will likely sell out quickly. The second printing is due to arrive in February 2010, so the game will be available again soon.
This game has been updated on Gone Cardboard.
