Gone Cardboard: Forbidden Island, Coming from Gamewright
Designer Matt Leacock’s Pandemic has received a panoply of awards since its release, with new editions continuing to emerge in new languages, not to mention the On the Brink expansion co-designed with Tom Lehmann.
Now Leacock is offering another take on the co-operative game genre with Forbidden Island, scheduled to be released in Q2 2010 by Gamewright. In Forbidden Island players must work together to retrieve four treasures from a perilous island which sinks with each step that you take. Escape the island with the treasures before you start breathing sea water, and you win the game. Gamewright will debut the game at Toy Fair 2010, and I plan to post more details about the game at that time.

Forbidden Island is for 2-4 players ages 10 and up, with a playing time of 30 minutes and a retail price of $16. This game has been added to Gone Cardboard. For a look at the game’s graphics, cross the jump for a promo video from Gamewright:

Sexy bits, killer price. Seems like it would be worth it just to try regardless. Posted by Dave Kudzma on Jan 15, 2010 at 10:35 AM | #
